MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd awarded project for Doha International Airport New Arrivals Baggage Handling Conveyor System.

February 2010

Following on from the very successful control and systems integration of the new departures baggage handling extension project at Bucharest International Airport, Mechanical Handling Systems of Italy have further awarded MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd the complete control systems integration project at Doha International Airport for the new arrivals system image

The award of the Doha International Airport from Mechanical Handling Systems of Italy for the complete control systems integration project was based on the ability of MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd to not only satisfy the stringent technical requirements of the project but also the ability of MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd to meet the extremely exacting timescales of the contract.

The project consists of a new arrivals hall with a dedicated arrivals decant building for baggage unloading.

The arrivals hall accommodates eight new carousels fed from dedicated feed lines originating from the baggage decant area. Each dedicated line incorporates a dedicated X-Ray solution which is fully integrated into the baggage handling system.

For the purposes of redundancy the system is zoned into two systems with two independent control rooms.

A further arrivals conveyor system incorporates intelligent canine search solutions.

The project further enhances the reputation of MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd in the United Arab Emirates following the adoption of the MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd Mach-Smart Lane solution for security applications at Abu Dhabi Airport.
